Classification, consulting and accommodation preparation services
Following the decision of the Ministry of Tourism to issue a classification certificate for tourist accommodation, YA 19102/2016 (Government Gazette B 3387), 21654/2017 (Government Gazette B 4242), 216/9-1-2015 (Government Gazette B10) and 21185/22- 10-2014 (Government Gazette B2840) and amendments thereof, the obligation was created for Hotels and Furnished Rooms and Apartments for Rent to carry out an inspection procedure, which is carried out ONLY by accredited Certification Bodies in accordance with the international standard ELOTΕΝ ISO/IEC 17065:2012 and the requirements of the Legislation. The validity of the new certificates is 5 years, after which the units will have to be inspected again.
Following the above decisions, all tourist accommodations must go through a pre-evaluation process with the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (HCL). The company is in contact with our office which takes on the role of inspector and in cooperation with an Accredited Certification Body the technical report is drawn up after an on-site inspection. The report records the mandatory specifications and graded criteria met by the tourist unit and the number of points it collects from their application and confirms the star or key category. Also, it is required to collect documents and evidence related to the mentioned points.
All the above data that will be submitted are binding for the tourist accommodation and in the event of an audit by the Tax Office, their authenticity will be checked. In the event that the inspectors find inaccurate information, the company may suffer significant penalties.
